5 injured in bomb explosion on bus in southern Philippines
MANILA, June 8 (Xinhua) — Five people were injured by a bomb explosion Friday on a bus in a bus station in Cotabato City, southern Philippines, said police.
The explosion was caused by a home-made bomb which blew up around noon, said police inspector Elias Romania.
Investigators were still looking into the type of materials which made the bomb to see whether they were same as that which killed at least one person three weeks ago in a bus terminal in Cotabato City.
Police said that bombing attack three weeks ago was staged to common criminals who were seeking protection money from the bus terminal, rather than by terrorists.
However, the United States and Australia recently renewed their travel advisory against Mindanao, saying terrorists could strike bus terminals and public markets in some cities there.
