Jun. 18–Aspiring entrepreneurs in Pahrump will get a boost when a business-outreach venture comes through town.

The Nevada Business Express Bizmobile bus is launching a four-day rural tour that will start today at the Pahrump Nugget with representatives of more than 15 organizations and agencies designed to help new companies get off the ground.

“(Entrepreneurial) resources are in short supply in Nevada’s rural areas,” said Dave Archer, chief executive officer of Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology, which is one of the Bizmobile’s sponsors. “Federal, state and local agencies spend a lot of time in Reno, Carson City and Las Vegas, but they don’t have the manpower to be in (rural) places as much as they’d like. The Bizmobile packages all these agencies in one place and moves them from city to city.”

Officials from the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Nevada Small Business Development Center and the Service Corps of Retired Executives will be on hand. The Nevada secretary of state, the Nevada Department of Taxation, the U.S. Department of Commerce, Nevada JobConnect and the Nevada Commission on Economic Development will also have representatives on the Bizmobile.

Agency officials will offer startup hopefuls advice on how to incorporate in Nevada, how to obtain a business license and how to develop a business plan, among other topics.

“The purpose is to provide one-stop shopping to anyone who wants to start or grow a business,” Archer said.

Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller plans to send representatives on the Bizmobile tour. His office participated in the first Bizmobile trip in Northern Nevada June 4-7, and the tour proved an effective way to inform Nevadans of the services the secretary of state offers, he said.

Bizmobile riders will dispense free advice from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Pahrump Nugget.

After it leaves Pahrump, the Bizmobile will stop in Tonopah, Eureka and Fallon through Thursday.

Archer said the Bizmobile’s partners are planning a Las Vegas startup expo with 100 to 200 exhibitors in February.
