Panel of Experts to Discuss Los Angeles Transportation Issues and Solutions

Posted on: Tuesday, 19 June 2007, 15:00 CDT

Town Hall Los Angeles presents Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: Getting LA Moving -- a Panel Discussion on Regional Transportation, next Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at The Regency Club. Angelenos will have the opportunity to voice their concerns about the future of public transportation, freeway expansion and road construction projects in their neighborhoods.

Moderating the panel is Lisa Specht, Partner and Land Use Chair, Manatt, Phelps and Phillips, LLP, and member of the Town Hall Board of Directors. Panelists include The Honorable Wendy Greuel, President Pro-Tempore and Councilmember, Second District, City of Los Angeles; Mark A. Pisano, Executive Director, Southern California Association of Governments; Alan I. Rothenberg, President, Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners; and Roger Snoble, Chief Executive Officer, Metropolitan Transportation Authority of Los Angeles County.

Decades before Southern California was known for its freeways, Los Angeles had a world-renowned trolley system. Today, with some of the worst road traffic, the busiest port, and the second busiest airport in the nation, panelists will discuss the current gridlock struggles while planning for a future of economic and cultural vitality.

For over 70 years, Town Hall has hosted discussions about economic, urban development and transportation concerns; we welcomed three MTA officials, including a former Chairman and Executive Director of the MTA. In 2006, Town Hall presented a Morning Conference on the Future of Los Angeles Infrastructure with keynote speaker Matthew K. Rose, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation; and a panel including LA economic guru, Jack Kyser and David Freeman, President of the Port of Los Angeles.
