Russia, France to Develop New Telecommunications Satellite
LE BOURGET (France). June 19 (Interfax-AVN) – Russia’s Applied Mechanics Research and Production Corporation (NPO PM, Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory) and France’s Thales Alenia Space signed two agreements at the international air show in Le Bourget.
A memorandum of mutual understanding on the joint development of a new telecommunications satellite was signed, as was a contract to supply re-transmitter elements for the multi-role satellite Luch 5A.
Alenia earlier supplied ready-made re-transmitters for NPO PM telecommunications satellites. But the Russian company has launched the production of re-transmitter elements, which led to the conclusion of a new agreement.
NPO PM makes spacecraft and satellite systems for fixed and mobile communication, TV broadcasting, navigation and geodesy, including Glonass-M and Glonass-K global navigation satellites.
