S. African military delegation impressed by Angolan army
LUANDA, June 24 (Xinhua) — Visiting General Inspector of the South African Defense Forces Lt. General Mxolisi Petane said here at the weekend that he is satisfied with the level of organization of the staff and military units of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).
At the end of his eight-day working visit to Angola, the South African general told reporters that “the FAA’s are soldiers with praise-deserving attitude and always well dressed which shows that they are part of an organized defense force.”
During the visit, Petane and his delegation met and exchanged views on matters of bilateral interest with Angolan Defense Minister Kundi Paihama and Assistant Chief of FAA General Staff General Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda.
During the talks, the military officials of the two countries analyzed matters of common interest, with focus on staff training, particularly in the sphere of inspection and auditing.
The South African military delegation also visited several FAA barracks and exchanged views with the chiefs of the Angolan armed forces’ three services of Army, Navy and Airforce.
Petane also said South Africa will offer scholarships to the FAA to help train FAA soldiers as part of existing military protocol of cooperation between the two countries.
