United Airlines, Croatia Airlines Sign Codeshare Agreement
CHICAGO, June 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — United Airlines and Croatia Airlines today signed a codeshare agreement, giving customers from both carriers service to new international destinations.
Under the agreement, subject to U.S. government approval, United will begin offering codeshare flights to the Croatian cities of Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik. Croatia Airlines customers will enjoy codeshare service to four of United’s U.S. hubs, including Washington Dulles, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago.
“We are focused on strengthening our world class network and adding more destinations for our customers,” says Michael Whitaker, United’s senior vice president-Alliances, International and Regulatory Affairs. “Making Zagreb and the beautiful Dalmatian coast easily accessible is a great way to fulfill the promise to our customers of greater travel options.”
“This agreement is of special importance for Croatia Airlines because it is the first intercontinental agreement signed by the company,” says Ivan Misetic, C.E.O. of Croatia Airlines. “It is with great pleasure that we have signed the agreement with United Airlines, one of the founding members of the Star Alliance association.”
Both airlines are members of the Star Alliance — United is a founding member, and Croatia Airlines has been a regional member since 2004. Members of United’s Mileage Plus(R) and Croatia Airlines’ Mile & More programs may continue to earn and redeem miles while traveling to destinations never-before served.
