Jul. 4–Chief Operations Officer Monica Messer is leaving InfoUSA Inc., 25 years after starting at the Ralston-based database marketing company as a junior programmer.

Messer has been on a reduced workload for a couple of years in order to spend more time with her daughter, Chief Executive Officer Vin Gupta said Tuesday, and has resigned effective Sept. 26 so she can have more personal time.

“It’s more of a retirement,” Gupta said. “She has risen through the ranks and has done extremely well.”

He credited her with “tremendous leadership skills.”

Two people will take over her workload, which includes overseeing database operations and product development, Gupta said, but neither will have the COO title.

Messer didn’t return a phone call seeking an interview.
