A group of potential Qatari investors have paid fact-finding visits to the Tajik Norak hydroelectric power station, the central district of Tavildara and the Aluminium Plant in the central town of Tursunzoda to acquaint themselves with investment projects proposed by Tajikistan on the spot, Tajik television reported on 5 July.

The television said that the Qatari investors were accompanied by the head of the Tajik electricity company Barq-i Tojik, Sharifkhon Samiyev.

Speaking to camera at a river side Samiyev said he had come to Tavildara District together with Qatari investors. “We have proposed to them to build two hydroelectric power stations – the Sangvor hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 800 mW and the Ishtiyem hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 650 mW. They, together with us, have come to the village of Sangvor to see the places where the dams of these hydroelectric power stations will be built,” he said.

A delegation headed by Qatari Finance Minister and acting Minister of Economy and Trade Yusuf Husayn Kamal arrived in Tajikistan on 4 July.
