Info meeting for pipeline Monday

BLOOMINGTON – Representatives of the Illinois Commerce Commission, the Illinois Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Illinois Farm Bureau will discuss landowner rights as related to a proposed crude-oil pipeline in McLean County.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday at the Interstate Center, 2301 W. Market St., Bloomington.

Enbridge Inc. wants to install a 175-mile underground pipeline from its Flanagan terminal near Pontiac to Patoka in Southern Illinois. To do so, the Canadian company needs to negotiate contracts with about 130 landowners in McLean County. Enbridge has not sought eminent domain, but a spokesman has said it is a last option.

The McLean County Farm Bureau and the Heartland of Illinois RC&D sponsored the event as an informational meeting only, not a political stance on the proposed pipeline.
