Disney officially opens its new Hong Kong theme park on Monday, bringing a slice of the Magic Kingdom to the Middle Kingdom with a careful blend of American showmanship and Chinese characteristics.

New research into one of the world's most social bacteria - Myxococcus xanthus, has discovered that it has a gourmet style approach to its consumption of phosphates, which provides a key clue to what makes it the most "social" of bacteria.

Sep. 9--Will Lands' End be sold? The question is kicking up again, with Thursday's announcement of the ouster of Alan Lacy as chief executive of parent company Sears Holdings. It was Lacy who engineered the $1.9 billion purchase of Lands' End by then-Sears, Roebuck & Co. in 2002.
