University of La Verne College of Law's Class of 2006 Reports 97% Employment Rate Nine Months After Graduation

University of La Verne College of Law reported today that 97% of graduates from the Class of 2006 secured jobs nine months after graduation, according to statistics compiled by the law school's Career Services Office in accordance with National Association for Law Placement Report and Salary Survey requirements. The 97% placement rate for those seeking employment is an 11.3% increase over the 85.7% placement rate reported a year ago for the Class of 2005.

"University of La Verne College of Law provides the Inland Empire and neighboring legal communities with qualified graduates trained in both legal theory and practical skills," said the law school's dean, Donald Dunn. "We are pleased that employers in the legal and business communities recognize the talents of our graduates by providing them with attractive job offers."

Of the 67 graduates comprising ULV College of Law's Class of 2006, 75% entered private practice, 14% secured positions in business and the remaining 11% accepted government positions. In addition, graduates comprising the Class of 2006 were the first from the law school to secure employment outside California and the first to have the opportunity to obtain positions at large law firms immediately upon graduation (firms with 250 or more attorneys).

ULV College of Law's Class of 2006 Employment Report was especially optimistic due to the opportunities available to graduates as a result of the law school's receipt of provisional ABA accreditation. Students graduating from provisionally ABA-accredited law schools are entitled to the same rights and privileges as students who graduate from fully ABA-accredited law schools.

Assistant Dean of Career Services and Alumni Relations Abbie Adams-Yaffe noted, "Many more opportunities are available to our graduates than were available prior to the law school's receipt of provisional accreditation. Judicial clerkships, many government legal positions and most large law firms require that their candidates have graduated from an ABA-accredited law school. This is the first time our students have had the opportunity to directly pursue many of these types of positions upon graduation."
