Young Feet Treading the Boards Outdoors
THESE youngsters from Race Leys Junior School in Bedworth are among hundreds of pupils who have been getting to grips with the Bard.
Pupils from 19 Warwickshire schools travelled to Stratford for outdoor performances at the Dell Theatre, which is run by, and is near, the Royal Shakespeare Company on the banks of the River Avon.
The youngsters could perform one of four plays, with the theme of “entrapment and power” to coincide with the bicentenary of the abolition of slavery. Primary schools had the choice of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth; secondary schools of Othelloor Richard III.
Fiona Ingram, head of the RSC’s young people’s programme, said: “It’s a delight to see so many students making Shakespeare and an RSC stage their own.”
