Time school starts and ends: Elementary 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.; middle school 7:50 a.m.to 2:30 p.m.; high school 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

General arrival and pickup times: There’s no districtwide policy, but at most schools it’s suggested parents drop kids off no more than a half hour before school and pick them up no more than a half hour after school.

School bus information: 854-4167

School lunch prices: Elementary, $1.60; middle school, $2.10 for the “classic” and $2.50 for the “supreme”; high school, $2.50.

What’s new in the district:

–Liberty Elementary School will start a Montessori pilot program this year for grades one through three. The Montessori program will operate on the same calendar as the traditional school program.

–Longfellow Elementary School will add full-day kindergarten in the coming year. Right now, only Highlands, Liberty, and Shadow Hills Elementary have offered full-day kindergarten.

General arrival and pickup times: Not more than 20 minutes before or after school for elementary and middle schools.

School bus information: 855-4440

School lunch prices: $1.60 at elementary schools; $2 to $2.50 at secondary schools.

What’s new in the district:

–Three new schools, Heritage Middle School, Paramount Elementary and Galileo Math and Science School for kindergarten through eighth grade.

–District installed a system that gives first responders information on school buildings, such as floor plans, utility shut offs and evacuation routes to improve response to emergencies. Cost: $356,000 from the U.S. Department of Education.

General arrival times: Elementary school, not before 8 a.m.; middle school, not before 7:30 a.m.

School bus information: 922-1013

School lunch prices: Elementary, $1.70; secondary schools, $1.95.

What’s new in the district:

–Reed Elementary School will start a dual-language program in Spanish and English. Students will get instruction in both programs. Program starts in kindergarten this year.

–Voters will be asked to approve a $25.5 million bond on Sept. 11 to build a new elementary school, purchase land for future schools and upgrade facilities.
