Kaplan Virtual Education Launches Kaplan University High School

Kaplan Virtual Education, a subsidiary of global education provider Kaplan, Inc., today announced the opening of Kaplan University High School, an online national high school.
"Kaplan University High School will provide students with a high-quality online curriculum that will be delivered by experienced certified teachers," said Charles Thornburgh, President of Kaplan Virtual Education. "The online high school offers an innovative and flexible way for traditional and nontraditional-aged students to earn a diploma to enhance their career opportunities or go on to college."
Students will have the option of enrolling in single courses or in the 18-credit College Access Diploma program, which is designed for students seeking to earn their diploma with an accredited program. The KU High School curriculum covers the essentials of a traditional high school program, and includes courses in language arts, mathematics, history, science, and technology. Instructors will be accessible to students via telephone, email, and instant messaging, and Academic Coaches will provide additional support to help students succeed.
To earn a KU High School diploma, student must take a minimum of five one-credit courses.
The online high school is a program of Kaplan Virtual Education, which is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award high school diplomas, and by the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA). The Instructors are state-certified teachers from around the country.
KU High School graduates will automatically be accepted into Kaplan University, an accredited online university that offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees, as well as certificates. KU High School alumni attending Kaplan University will receive a 20 percent tuition discount when they enroll in associate's, or higher, degree programs. To be eligible for this scholarship, the KU High School graduate must remain continuously enrolled as a full-time or part-time student, complete their academic program, and receive a degree from Kaplan University.
