Pepperdine University to Offer MBA Program in the Antelope Valley
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The practical knowledge, skills, career impact and prestige of an internationally recognized Master in Business Administration (MBA) program will soon be within convenient reach of residents and businesses of Antelope Valley. Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management is planning to expand its signature real- world MBA program into Palmdale, Lancaster and surrounding communities in early 2008, partnering with the Aerospace Education Research and Operations (AERO) Institute, a state-of-the-art aerospace research and learning facility located in the Palmdale Civic Center.
Pepperdine’s interest in offering a two-year part-time MBA program for managers who live and/or work in Antelope Valley is the result of several months of intense discussions and the collaborative efforts of the Honorable James C. Ledford Jr., mayor of the City of Palmdale; the Honorable Henry W. Hearns, mayor of the City of Lancaster; the Antelope Valley Chamber of Commerce; Palmdale Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Antelope Valley Economic Alliance and the AERO Institute.
“As one of the leading and most respected graduate business schools serving Southern California, we are partnering with the region’s civic leaders and national employers to support the Antelope Valley’s desire to develop strong new business leaders who possess a solid foundation in current management concepts, including the impacts of globalization, technology and ethics on the future workplace,” said Linda A. Livingstone, PhD, dean of the Graziadio School.
Pepperdine plans to offer the evening MBA program over 24 months, with class sessions held two evenings a week, with established Graziadio School faculty. The team-based curriculum, designed for fully-employed business professionals and managers, marries academic rigor with relevant business practices that can be applied in real-time to the workplace.
“On behalf of the community leaders who have contributed to this engagement, the Antelope Valley welcomes Pepperdine and the promise that expanded educational choice brings to all constituents in northern Los Angeles County,” said Katrina Emery, Director of Operations at the AERO Institute. “With our exemplary record of partnership with government, academia and industry, the AERO Institute provides the ideal learning facilities in one convenient location students expect when earning an MBA degree.”
Based on anticipated final review by The Western Association of Schools and Colleges, one of six regional accrediting associations in the United States, the Graziadio School will host a number of information sessions at Antelope Valley business and community locations to engage employers and recruit prospective students for 2008 classes.
