Lesson in Road Safety for Pupils
YOUNGSTERS from three schools have been learning the importance of being seen when crossing the road.Staff at Asda gave the pupils from South Bank, Dormanstown and Grangetown primary schools a lesson in the stopping distances needed by vehicles driving on the road.The safety awareness day on Wednesday gave youngsters the opportunity to see the different sizes of lorries on the road.They also took part in a colouring competition, with prizes given for the best work.Neil Allandale, events coordinator for Asda, said: “The youngsters loved it, and they all seemed to take it in.”The teachers at Dormanstown Primary said it is all they have been talking about.” Pupils at the school will also be presented with highvisibility vests from Asda.
