Lawyers representing Testim lawsuit claims at The Onder Law Firm confirm the consolidation of testosterone lawsuits in a U.S. District Court in Northern Illinois and explain the merits of Multi-District Litigation (MDL) over class action lawsuits.

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) June 17, 2014

Attorneys handling national Testim lawsuits at The Onder Law Firm confirm the consolidation of testosterone lawsuits in a U.S. District Court located in Chicago. Court documents* indicate that an initial 45 testosterone lawsuits have been consolidated for joint consideration as a Multi-District Litigation (MDL), transferred from four districts around the country.

The transfer order* for this case stipulates that the MDL, first titled In Re AndroGel Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2545, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, will expand to include all testosterone products, including Testim lawsuit claims. The litigation, further known as In re: Testosterone Replacement Therapy Products Liability Litigation, is expected to include thousands of plaintiffs, according to the court transfer order. The merits of limiting the litigation to only one brand of testosterone replacement therapy, or only to testosterone gel therapies, were discussed. However, the ultimate decision was made to include all types of testosterone therapies, consolidating plaintiffs throughout the country who have suffered a heart attack, stroke, or other severe cardiac problem and have taken Testim or another testosterone product, or who have lost a loved one to such an incident.

The testosterone lawsuit claims came in the wake of an FDA warning** on the possible dangers of heart attack and stroke from testosterone replacement therapies including Testim. The FDA Safety Alert cited recent research showing men face a two- to three-fold increase in their risk for heart attack and stroke while taking testosterone replacement therapies including Testim. The June 6, 2014 Transfer Order for the testosterone lawsuit MDL states, “All actions involve plaintiffs (or their survivors) who used one or more testosterone replacement therapies and contend that their (or their decedent’s) use of the drugs caused their injuries, which include heart attack, stroke, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism.”

According to attorneys handling national Testim testosterone lawsuit claims for heart attack and stroke at The Onder Law Firm, Multi District Litigation is a legal procedure which allows for all federally-filed testosterone lawsuit claims making common allegations to be processed en masse, allowing all discovery to be completed at once and precluding contradictory rulings in opposing courts. Unlike class action lawsuits, where claimants often receive only a symbolic settlement, MDLs such as this testosterone litigation can yield real compensation that takes into account each plaintiff’s circumstances and losses.

While proceedings for the testosterone lawsuit MDL have begun in the U.S. District Court in Chicago, new plaintiffs who qualify are being accepted at this time. Persons who suffered from a heart attack or stroke while taking Testim or another testosterone therapy, and persons who lost a loved one in such circumstances, may have legal grounds to file a Testim lawsuit.
