CGP Education's Innovative Mathematics Programs Approved for Adoption By California State Board of Education

Posted on: Thursday, 8 November 2007, 18:00 CST

The California State Board of Education today unanimously approved CGP Education's newly created and state-specific mathematics curriculum -- California Mathematics Standards-Driven Program Course One, Course Two, and Algebra I for grades 6 through 8 as part of the 2007 California Mathematics Primary Adoption.

The innovative new programs provide standards-driven, focused instruction through interactive text supported by advanced technology resources. Each program provides an integrated approach to teaching the California Mathematics Standards that makes it easy for teachers to plan, motivate, and teach.

"All of us at CGP Education are appreciative of the dedication demonstrated by the members of the California State Board of Education, the Curriculum Commission, and all of those involved in the thorough process of choosing instructional materials for the teachers and students of California," said Patrick Adams, President of CGP Education. "We are excited to get these programs into the hands of our teachers and students and start making a real difference in Mathematics proficiency across the state."

California Mathematics Standards-Driven Programs -- A Straightforward, Logical Solution

For the first time, California educators will have mathematics programs that were written from scratch just for them. The needs of today's California students and educators are at the heart of these innovative programs. Not a single word has been repurposed from material for another state. These programs were research driven and are:

Designed for California Students -- the text, support, format and psychology were developed to "speak" to the student. CGP's research has demonstrated that this personalized approach extends the classroom experience to the crucial hours spent at home during independent study thereby dramatically impacting test scores and proficiency.

Built for California Teachers -- teachers' challenges are more demanding than ever before. This is the first truly integrated program, built for the reality of demands in the classroom. Each lesson is developed for a class period offering full support to teach CA standards to students ranging from ELL to Advanced.

Support California Districts -- from built-in Assessment to integrated Intervention, CGP has taken another unique step. In offering unlimited Professional Development and support for the life of the adoption -- for FREE, they are the first curriculum publisher to take accountability for student success with their programs.

The company's goal is to establish long-term relationships with districts, schools, and teachers. They offer comprehensive training and support by a team of highly qualified Curriculum Trainers. The company is also in the process of developing the first bi-lingual Spanish / English textbook for the many English Language Learner (ELL) students within California.
