The Professional Pricing Society is partnering with the Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester to advance the field of pricing through the newly created Center for Pricing at Simon. The increasing demand for experienced pricing professionals has created a need for a knowledge center that will further pricing research and education. The Center for Pricing will also promote interaction between business executives, educators and researchers who specialize in pricing.
"The Simon Graduate School of Business has taken a bold step in advancing the pricing profession with its creation of the Center for Pricing," said Eric Mitchell, president and founder of the Professional Pricing Society. "Corporations are eagerly recruiting pricing professionals, and it is exciting to see business school grad students investing their intellectual capital in this important and growing field."
The partnership provides the Professional Pricing Society and the Simon Graduate School of Business with new ways to positively impact the pricing industry through education. Students will learn about the latest strategies, emerging trends and the newest pricing technologies. In partnership with the Professional Pricing Society, students and professors will benefit from increased access to a multi-platform forum that connects them with top professionals and experts in the pricing industry.
Students at the Simon Graduate School of Business have historically demonstrated a strong interest in pricing. Year in and year out, the school's Pricing Policies course is one of the most popular electives. The Simon curriculum, which is grounded in economics, analytical thinking and quantitative models, creates a strong foundation for the school's partnership with the Professional Pricing Society.
"We are pleased to be working with the Professional Pricing Society to produce talented graduates who can help meet the rapidly growing demand for pricing professionals," said Simon School Dean Mark Zupan. "Recently, Simon students responded that more than 70 percent would take an Advanced Pricing course, and more than 50 percent would consider, if offered, a concentration in Pricing. Given the students' interest and our school's international reputation as an economics and quantitative-based school, having a Center for Pricing was a natural fit."
