St. Louis Law Firms Announce Staffing Changes: November 14, 2007

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal has expanded its life sciences and intellectual property groups, adding Christopher Marion as scientific adviser, and Marcellus Chase, Elisabeth Koral and Sarah Carlson as associates.

Marion earned his doctorate degree in molecular microbiology and microbial pathogenesis from the Washington University School of Medicine. He also holds a bachelor’s degree with a major in molecular biology and a minor in biotechnology from McGill University in Montreal. His research experience includes work as a research technician at Harvard Medical School. From 2000 to 2002, Marion was a member of the Young Scientist Training Program at the Washington University School of Medicine, where he also received the Lucille P. Markey Fellowship and the Infectious Disease Scholars Program Fellowship.

Chase joins Sonnenschein from the Saint Louis University Office of Innovation and Intellectual Property, where he has served as intellectual property asset manager and patent attorney since 2006. He received his law degree from Saint Louis University, where he was a dean’s select scholarship recipient and served as president of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association. Chase graduated, cum laude, from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with bachelor degrees in physics and communication. He was a regional quarter finalist in the Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court Competition in intellectual property law

Koral is a patent attorney and chemical engineer. She graduated from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, where she was on the dean’s list. Koral has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Washington University. Before joining Sonnenschein, she served as a labor and employment law clerk with General Electric in Cincinnati and as a patent law clerk for another St. Louis law firm. Koral also has worked as a lab specialist with Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati.

Carlson, who graduated from the Washington University School of Law, where she was associate editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly, joins from another St. Louis law firm. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Duke University in Durham, N.C. Carlson will focus on trademarks, trade dress, copyrights and Internet-related legal issues.

Brad Thoenen has joined the litigation department of Spencer Fane Britt & Browne as an associate focusing on civil litigation. He received his law degree in May 2007 from the University of Missouri- Columbia and his bachelor of arts degree from Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., where he studied political science.

Six new associates have joined the St. Louis office of Blackwell Sanders.

Daniel S. Cohn joins the intellectual property practice group. He graduated with high honors in 2007 from the University of Illinois College of Law and received a bachelor of engineering, electrical engineering and math in 2004 from Vanderbilt University.

Joshua C. Devine joins the litigation department. He received his law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2007, where he was the note and comment editor of the Missouri Law Review and the negotiation competition director for the Board of Advocates. He received his bachelor of science degree, cum laude, from Truman State University in 2003.

Donny T. Lo joins the real estate department. He graduated from the Washington University School of Law in 2007, where he was associate editor of the Journal of Law & Policy and executive vice president of the Asian American Law Students Association. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2003.

Joshua A. Roesch joins the corporate department. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2007, where he was the layout and design editor and associate member of the Missouri Law Review. He received his bachelor’s degree from Truman State University in 2004.

Joseph L. Skinner joins the labor and employment department. He graduated from the William and Mary School of Law in 2007, where he was a member of the William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal. He received his bachelor’s degree from Truman State University in 2004, graduating magna cum laude.

Jennifer M. Wolsing joins the litigation department. She received her law degree from Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington in 2007, where she was the executive articles editor for the Indiana Law Journal. She received her doctorate, summa cum laude, from Indiana University-Bloomington in 2005 and her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Kentucky in 2000.
