No Economic Sense

Canterbury University should review its decision to drop academic standards. Offering top-class education should be the priority.

Students have a right to know that their education might be severely compromised while fees remain the same. Reducing the number of student-teacher contact hours in Fine Arts will seriously damage the quality of education offered.

The School of Fine Arts runs at a profit; dropping academic standards makes no economic sense.

I am an adult student sacrificing four years’ pay to study. My classmates are among the hardest working young people I have met and our tutors are excellent. Two Auckland students in my class chose to study here for a better quality education.

The university has an obligation to us to ensure that the quality of the education we have invested in will be fully restored.
