Drive to Promote School Dinners

A DRIVE to get more teenagers eating school dinners gets under way in Nuneaton next week to try to save Warwickshire County Council’s school meals service in secondary schools.

County catering bosses may have to pull out of some senior schools if the service continues to make a loss.

There are no fears, though, at Alderman Smith School, in Stockingford, Nuneaton, where staff hold themed meals to encourage pupils to have a school dinner. There have been meals celebrating Pudsey Bear and Wimbledon.

A school spokeswoman said: “We encourage our pupils to stay on site and we do everything we can to promote healthy eating.”

On Monday, pupils at St Thomas More RC School, in Greenmoor Road, Nuneaton, will be given the chance to take part in food tasting for a new secondary menu.
