Kaplan Names Sari Factor President of K12 Learning Services Unit
Kaplan today announced that it has named Sari Factor as president of its K12 Learning Services division, which partners with schools and school districts to provide high-quality instructional programs.
Factor, an education veteran with nearly 30 years of experience in basal, supplemental and technology publishing across the pre-K-12 spectrum, was formerly president of Macmillan/McGraw-Hill, the elementary publishing unit of the McGraw-Hill companies. Under her leadership, Macmillan launched three market-leading basal series, published the division’s first supplemental programs — for Reading Intervention and English Language Learners — and transformed the company’s product development processes for greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
“Kaplan has a long established reputation for quality in education, and in recent years its K12 programs have gained recognition for demonstrating positive results among partner schools and districts,” said Factor. Kaplan K12 Learning Services works with many of the largest school districts nationwide, providing programs including reading and math intervention, academic skills support, curricular solutions, professional development, test readiness and college preparation.
“I look forward to furthering Kaplan’s goals in expanding the reach and breadth of its programs, solidifying its leadership in the K12 space, and continuing to support partner schools in propelling student achievement,” said Factor.
Factor’s experience in strategic and operational leadership also comes from a tenure as President of Wright Group, one of McGraw-Hill’s supplemental publishing imprints, and as General Manager of Tribune Education’s Everyday Learning Corporation, where she was instrumental in driving more than 25% annual growth. Previously, she also served as Vice President of Marketing and New Ventures at McDougal Littell, where she played an integral role in transforming the company from a niche publisher to one of the major competitors in the secondary school market.
Factor holds a B.S. in education from Indiana University, and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
