IPOH: The Education Ministry is going all out to ensure a safe and secure environment for students. It will be issuing a circular to re-emphasise the need for schools to ensure students’ safety during and after school hours and also during co-curricular activities.

Education director-general Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom said such a move was crucial in view of the recent abductions.

“Among the measures in the circular include asking school principals to assemble students who arrive early in the school compound so that they can be looked after.”

Alimuddin said some parents sent their children to school as early as 6am and it was better to have these students within the school compound to prevent any untoward incident.

“Students must also wear uniforms or badges which identify which school they belong to as this will be helpful if they encounter any difficulties.”
