The Financial Times' 2008 annual ranking of business schools has rated Boston University School of Management second throughout the world for Best in IT Programs and eighth for Best in e-Business Programs. The School was ranked among the top fifty MBA programs in the U.S.
"With so many business schools competing in this important arena, we're very pleased to receive this level of international recognition," said Louis E. Lataif, Dean, Boston University School of Management.
"This year, we've noted a 19% increase in MBA applications," Dean Lataif continued, "a strong indication that prospective students are recognizing the unique kind of graduate management education we offer. Approximately 30% of the applications are from overseas, reflective of our growing international reputation."
"This School's MBA curriculum uniquely fuses the art, science, and technology of business. In addition to teaching about the increasing role of technology in business, we develop effective business leaders by imparting an understanding of, and an appreciation for, the "art" of business in combination with the traditional business sciences. With "leadership" as our goal, we stress the primary importance of interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, business ethics, and learning to achieve in and through teams."
Fusing the art, science, and technology of business is perfectly embodied in the School's unique MS·MBA program, now in its seventh year. That "next generation MBA" has propelled the School's reputation with both students and employers.
The MS·MBA program enables highly motivated graduate students to earn both a traditional Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in one of the various business disciplines, as well as a Master of Science in Information Systems. Importantly, the two degrees can be earned in the same 21-month period normally required to earn a full-time MBA.
