InstaPayment, a leading provider of Electronic Payment Systems (EPS) based on integrated Internet and smart card technologies, announced the launch of the CampusCards.com solution for K-12 schools. This initiative enables students to use their Campus Card for all cafeteria and school purchases, allows parents to view a history of all purchases including details of what their children ordered each day for lunch, and benefits schools with improved cash management and operational efficiencies.

“Our research demonstrated that K-12 parents wanted more oversight over the spending habits of their children, and that K-12 schools were not uniformly comfortable with cash. In our visits to K-12 schools, we found cash stored in boxes, deposit slips typed on carbon paper, and virtually no check and balance system to ensure that cash receipts are properly accounted for,” said Alan DeRossett, CEO of InstaPayment. “Our Campus Cards provide an easy to use, low cost solution to both of these problems.”

InstaPayment’s Campus Cards program offers schools and parents additional benefits, including:

 — Parents manage the funds available on their student’s Campus Card via an easy to use web interface. — Parents can block their student’s campus card from being used for undesirable purchases, such as soda from vending machines. — Parents can access a daily on-line report of all purchases made via the Campus Card, including details of the student’s lunch choices. — Parents can opt-in to include their child’s medical information on the Campus Card’s smart chip, providing school administrators with instant access in the case of an emergency. — Schools are not burdened with the traditional merchant fees associated with credit cards. — InstaPayment’s reporting system automatically produces the roll-up reports needed for reimbursements under the National School Lunch Program. — InstaPayment’s Campus Card implementation includes Point of Sale terminals for public schools, allowing schools to implement the entire Campus Card program at no cost.

InstaPayment’s most recent installation is St Joseph High School in Santa Maria, California. Special incentives are being offered to California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) members.
