Dangler to Replace Brackbill As Bart-Colerain Principal

At its Feb. 18 meeting, Solanco School Board approved a replacement for Thomas Brackbill. The Bart-Colerain Elementary School principal and district director of elementary education’s retirement at the end of the 2007-2008 school year had been previously approved.
Robert Dangler, now an assistant principal at the middle school, will be transferred to Bart-Colerain to fill Brackbill’s position at a salary of $75,000.
Shirley Hunter, now the principal at Providence Elementary School, will take over as the district’s director of elementary education. She will be paid a yearly stipend of $3,500 for her additional responsibilities.
The board also approved the retirement of June Shultz, a longtime district teacher who is now an eighth-grade English teacher at Swift Middle School. Shultz will retire at the end of this school year.
The board also approved several student field trips. They are:
A June 15-25 trip to France and Spain for foreign language students.
A May 23 senior class trip to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J.
A May 21 trip to New York City for National Honor Society students.
An April 19 trip to Washington, D.C., for George A. Smith Middle School Honor Society students.
A March 26 trip to Washington, D.C., for high school students in the gifted program.
A March 18 trip to the Baltimore Aquarium for Swift Middle School seventh-graders.
A May 30 trip to the Baltimore Zoo for Clermont Elementary students who have earned the designation “Fight Free.”
The next board meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 3 at Quarryville Elementary School instead of the district’s
