University Alliance Online and Dominican University has announced enrollment dates and curriculum details for three new Master of Arts in Education degree programs that address the most critical needs of school districts across the nation. Certified teachers can enroll in master's degree specializations in Elementary Education, English as a Second Language or Reading. Courses for each degree will be available via University Alliance's industry-leading online learning platform starting June 30, 2008.
"These master's degree programs make it convenient for K--12 educators to meet the broad professional development and continuing education demands of today's classroom," said Charlene Meyer, Senior Director of Student Services for University Alliance's Education Degree Programs. "With reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind Act on the horizon, demand for teachers with skills in these specialized subject areas is expected to increase substantially."
Specialized Master's Degrees Designed for Working Teachers
Each degree specialization equips certified teachers with new tools to improve learning outcomes and address critical issues faced in the contemporary education environment. The Master of Arts in Education with a specialization in Elementary Education provides teachers with the skills to apply the most effective learning strategies for Pre-K--8 students, adapt curriculum to meet the needs of diverse students, manage challenging behavioral problems and much more.
The English as a Second Language (ESL) specialization provides teachers with the latest education research to help students acquire English proficiency, techniques to better manage the learning environment for English language learners and strategies to develop student literacy regardless of existing language skills.
The master's degree with a specialization in Reading empowers teachers with proven techniques to address the physical and emotional factors that impact a student's ability to read, strategies to help students read to their potential and the skills to coach parents and others to develop student reading skills in the classroom and at home.
