MSU Offers Students International Medical Exposure
THE International Medical School (IMS) in Bangalore, India, is the result of a unique regional collaboration between the Management & Science University (MSU) and MS Ramaiah Medical College.
It is the university’s first international offshore branch campus and the seventh school under its flagship of faculties, schools and centres of learning.
The setting up of IMS illustrates MSU’s commitment in offering critical and relevant programmes, particularly in health and medical sciences.
The medical school, which focuses solely on the Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS), is located on a 26ha site adjacent to the MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, a multi-specialty world-class teaching hospital.
“Bangalore provides an excellent setting for MSU to establish its medical school. The wealth of experience and development in medical field that India has to offer is unique and meets the expectations of many medical authorities,” says IMS dean Datuk Dr Abdul Ghani Mohammed Din.
Students will be supervised by experience experts and exposed to the running of a hospital with excellent facilities.
Lessons and practical classes on anatomy, for example, are more insightful and effective as students can practise on cadavers.
“A combination of modern facilities, hands-on experiences and dedicated teaching staff has contributed to raising the quality of the IMS medical programme.”
The MBBS covers 51/2 years, including a year of rotation programme in Bangalore.
The academic term begins in September and students are required to sit for a medical entrance test. Intake is limited to 150 students.
Students will be housed in a three-storey fully furnished apartment complex, 10 minutes from campus.
