Assistance With Polytechnic Tertiary Study

Aoraki Polytechnic's scholarship initiative is making tertiary study a reality for secondary school students throughout the country.
The initiative gives every secondary school in Canterbury three scholarships. These can be awarded at the school's discretion to enable students to study towards qualifications at one of Aoraki's five campuses.
Aoraki Polytechnic school liaison Adrienne Barton says the initiative has proved extremely popular and will this year be extended to 11 different programmes of study.
Secondary school students can be awarded scholarships in a wide range of study areas at Aoraki including the trades (automotive, engineering, carpentry), first-year media, fine arts, fashion and design, outdoor recreation, cookery and the first year of the sports programme in Christchurch. They are also available to students seeking to pursue studies in business, hotel and restaurant services, fashion design and information technology.
"Secondary schools appreciate the nature of the scholarship programme offered by Aoraki which gives them the opportunity to select students and encourage them into tertiary study," says Barton.
Schools are in charge of allocating the three scholarships.
Based in Timaru, Aoraki Polytechnic also has campuses in Christchurch, Ashburton, Oamaru and Dunedin.
