TROTWOOD -- The school board will vote Thursday, May 22, to let six staff go in face of an impending deficit.
The contracts for two school psychologists, a middle school physical education teacher, a high school physical education teacher, a middle school health teacher and a middle school art teacher are to be canceled "for financial reasons."
In all, 8.3 full-time positions will go away for a savings of around $585,000 according to Rexann Wagner, assistant superintendent.
"We are meeting all the staterequired instruction with the people we have left," she said.
The board plans to cut $1 million from this year's budget and another $1 million from next. The board is going to the voters in November for a 9.06-mill levy for operations.
That would raise $2.6 million annually if approved.
The $2 million in cuts, plus the $2.6 million in new money, would alleviate a $4.5 million operating deficit projected for 2011.
