China Education Resources Announces Selection By China's Ministry of Education to Conduct Teacher Training in 2008
Posted on: Thursday, 22 May 2008, 18:00 CDT
China Education Resources Inc. ("CER," the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: CHN)(PINK SHEETS: CHNUF) today announced that it was one of three companies selected in a competitive bid process by the central government's Ministry of Education (MOE) to conduct teacher training in China this year. CER will begin training high school teachers from four provinces, representing more than 2,600 schools beginning July 11, 2008.
This is the first time that the MOE has permitted competitive bidding from non-government companies to conduct the training program online. Historically, the MOE only permitted MOE institutions and universities to provide the teacher training service. CER's selection to provide the teacher training online equates to a full endorsement by the central and provincial government's MOEs and should help CER sell its other education products, content and services through its CERSP portal and sub portals, including "My Study Room" and "Education Services Portal" (ESP).
"We are pleased once again at the MOE's recognition of our place at the forefront of China's education modernization efforts," noted CER Chairman and CEO, Chengfeng Zhou. "This recognition is important to our overall business strategy, to become the largest online education service and content provider in China's kindergarten through twelfth grade market." CER provides modern K-12 education content and services for education professionals, administrators, teachers, tutors, students and parents through its CERSP portal and 36 sub portals, including "My Study Room" and the school-wide, "Education Services Portal" (ESP).
CER has developed and is currently marketing an MOE approved teacher training program for individuals, which is available through CERSP all year round. This program can be paid for by individuals, schools, or provincial education funds.
The online teacher training runs for ten days, from July 11 to July 20. All teacher-training content was developed and paid for by the MOE; using the same experts that develop content for the Curriculum Development Center (CDC) sponsored CERSP portal.
