third-grade Students produce brochure
Students in Kathy Heinrich’s third-grade class at Nags Head Elementary School worked on a project on native ghost crabs throughout the school year .
The students brainstormed about what they already knew, did online research, and read Internet-posted articles. Their work was put on a wikispaces (blog/forum) page. The goal was to create a brochure on the value of ghost crabs to the ecosystem.
The group viewed other nature brochures and wanted to design one that would stand out. The class worked on draft content, color, format, type font, wording and layout.
NHES technology facilitator Cathy Evanoff helped explain Internet law and etiquette to the students.
