Collected Books Going To Tanzania

June 3, 2008
Repost This

A secondary school in rural Tanzania will be receiving English- language reading materials from Webelos scouts from Pack 125 in Lancaster.

Scouts collected the books and magazines from Rohrerstown Elementary School and Landisville Elementary School over six days.

The idea came from Jake Maser, assistant district commissioner of the Harvest District of the PA Dutch Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Maser will deliver the materials to Manow Secondary School in southern Tanzania in September.

Manow is a privately owned school. The courses are taught in English, though Swahili is used in primary schools. The books and magazines are intended to be a supplement to the students’ textbooks.
