UNH Names Highfield Dean of College of Business

University of New Haven (UNH) President Steven H. Kaplan has announced that Dr. Richard Highfield, from St. John’s University, has been selected as dean of the College of Business, effective in mid-summer. Highfield, a recognized leader in academic administration, served for four years as dean of the Peter J. Tobin College of Business and professor of economics and finance at St. John’s University. His previous administrative appointments include four years as dean of the School of Business at University of Albany, State University of New York, and six years as associate dean for the MBA Program and Operations at Cornell University.

Highfield earned his Ph.D. in 1987 in econometrics and economics from the University of Chicago, an M.B.A. in 1979 from Santa Clara University, and a B.A. in economics in 1971 from Stanford University.

Highfield will also hold concurrently the rank of professor of economics in the College of Business at UNH. A leader in experiential education, the University of New Haven provides its students with a unique combination of solid liberal arts and real- world, hands-on professional training. A private university founded in 1920, UNH has a full-time undergraduate enrollment of more than 2,400 students and a graduate school enrollment that exceeds 1,700. The university offers more than 80 undergraduate degrees and more than 25 graduate degrees through its four colleges, in fields such as sports management, nutrition, computer science and criminal justice.
