Pupils’ Talent Ready to Shine
TALENTED youngsters from the North East are to take part in a national schools festival.
Called Shine, the week-long programme of events is the first of its kind and will see primary and secondary school pupils showcase their skills in a range of creative fields.
The festival, which begins next Monday, will span arts, music, theatre, sports and enterprise.
North East schools taking part include Gibside Special School in Whickham, Harton Infant School in South Shields and Marsden Primary School in South Tyneside.
As part of the festival, the Chronicle is inviting children and young people to write in with questions to Gordon Brown.
The Prime Minister is a keen supporter of Shine week and will answer the best questions to do with talent. A selection of the questions and answers will be printed in a free supplement given out with our sister newspaper, The Journal, on Wednesday, July 9.
Send your question marked “Questions for Shine week”, along with your name and address, to Nicola Juncar, Education Reporter, Evening Chronicle, Thomson House, Newcastle, NE1 1ED.
Teachers keen to take part should log on to www.shineweek.co.uk for more details.
