COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ohio Education Association (OEA) Fund for Children and Public Education (FCPE) State Convention announced its unanimous endorsement of Richard Cordray for Ohio Attorney General on the November 4, 2008 statewide ballot.
"Richard Cordray has demonstrated that he truly supports public education through his initiatives working with teachers and public school students. He is a person of great integrity and is committed to fairness and justice. We believe he will support our effort to create great public schools in Ohio," says OEA President Patricia Frost-Brooks.
The OEA FCPE council, comprised of elected OEA members throughout Ohio, carefully screens candidates based on their voting records as well as their support of public education and the OEA's priority issues. According to Frost-Brooks, "educators will be well served by OEA's endorsement of Cordray based upon his vision for public education in Ohio, his past service and his actions that have supported the interests of our members."
The Ohio Education Association also endorsed Cordray in his successful campaign for State Treasurer in 2006, noting his competence and managerial skills.
The Ohio Education Association represents 130,000 teachers, faculty members and support professionals in Ohio's public schools, colleges and universities.
