Star Teachers Saying an Emotional Farewell
RETIREMENT beckons for two Teesside teachers.
Graeme Cox, 57, an English teacher at Redcar Community College, started teaching in 1972 at Stapylton Comprehensive in Eston before moving to Redcar Community College.
He has taught thousands of pupils including West Brom manager and ex-Boro star Tony Mowbray.
So inspiring was he as a teacher, that three of his former pupils went on to teach at the same school, including art teacher Angela Collinson who said he will be greatly missed.
Mr Cox, from Marske, said: “It has been an exciting and interesting 35 years and I leave with lots of regret.”
Also retiring is Year Two teacher Janet O’Connor from St Gabriel’s RC School.
The 56-year-old mother of three started her career at the school in 1974 after completing her training at Endsleigh College, Hull.
Mrs O’Connor, from Middlesbrough, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my job.”
Michelle Ryan, headteacher of St Gabriel’s, added: “She has been a wonderful teacher and friend to countless children and parents.”
