R.I. Foundation Assists Area Schools

The Rhode Island Foundation has named 34 projects within South County’s school districts as recipients of education endowment funds. They include:

South Kingstown Education Foundation Fund; Courthouse Center for the Arts, for “Artists Among Us”; Curtis Corner Middle School for its Club Aviation-Simulation, flight simulator software for seventh graders; Peace Dale’s Museum of Primitive Art and Culture for its social studies partnership with South Kingstown Schools; South Kingstown High School for its acid rain analysis project, science fair and heart-rate monitors; Chariho Community Innovative Projects, a partnership of the Community 2000 Education Foundation, Rotary Club of Chariho and the Rhode Island Foundation; Ashaway Elementary School’s reading benchmark assessment; the Chariho School Department’s sensory garden;

Chariho Middle School’s Blutrack Project, for supplies and stopwatches to support motion and energy activities; Rhode Island history; Chariho Regional High School for computer copyholders and audio books, both for the library media center; Chariho Area Career and Technical Center for its Ronald McDonald House dinner; Westerly Education Endowment Fund; Bradford Elementary School for literature and field trips; Dunn’s Corners Elementary School; Springbrook School; State Street School; Tower Street School; Westerly Middle School; Musica Dolce, to provide two programs for “Music in the Schools”; Serendipity Book Partnership involving parents, students and teachers in reading programs; Westerly High School; Westerly public schools, to support programs that focus on parenting skills for fathers; and LINKS, to support “Improving Social Skills and Resiliency of At Risk Youth through Outdoor Adventure and Experiential Learning,” a program for students with special needs.
