Online School Expanding to Meet Colorado’s Growing Demand for Online Education
BRANSON, Colo., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Branson School Online, an accredited public school serving Colorado students in kindergarten through grade 12, is expanding to serve more students statewide. Spurred by recent legislation expanding access to the program, growing demand for online education, and recognition for its academic rigor, highly experienced teachers, and commitment to partnering with parents to help each child succeed, Branson School Online will open its virtual doors to all Colorado students on August 25.
"We are experiencing growing demand for our online program due to our strong track record of student success," said Dr. Larry Birden, Director of Branson School Online and Superintendent of the Branson School District Re-82. "New legislation effective this year will allow all Colorado students -- including private and home school students in addition to public school students -- to enroll in schools such as Branson School Online tuition-free beginning this fall."Branson School Online is operated through the Branson School District Re-82, which is fully accredited by the Colorado Department of Education and is recognized as an innovator in online education. The school takes a high-tech, high-touch approach to education, providing a high-quality, state-aligned curriculum, supported by experienced, Colorado-licensed teachers, education advisors and counselors since 2001. Because all classes are conducted online, Branson School Online provides computers to all full-time students who request them for the duration of their active enrollment, along with any required textbooks. As a public school, the program is available tuition-free to all Colorado students, including students previously enrolled in a private school or home school program.
"We maintain the same commitment to each student enrolled in Branson School Online as we do for students in the Branson School District's traditional brick-and-mortar schools -- a commitment to personal attention and academic success," said Dr. Birden. "While we may be using the newest tools to deliver education, we remain true to our small community roots: we invest the time to get to know each student."
Branson School Online counselors work with each student to design an education plan to fit their learning level and post-high school goals. With a wide range of courses available, students and counselors can create a plan that is right for each student, whether college- or career-bound. The curriculum includes core courses such as English, Math and Science along with access to post-secondary courses that earn dual credit towards high school graduation requirements and a post-secondary degree. Unique curriculum offerings such as Web site design, digital photography and a variety of business courses provide students with unparalleled educational opportunities that prepare them for 21st century careers.
Branson School Online's individual attention extends to the classroom, where the school's dedicated teachers interact with students in a virtual "classroom" and are available for students by email and phone. "Branson School Online has created an online learning environment that supports students, parents, teachers and academic counselors as partners focused on each student's success," said Judith Stokes, Education Consultant for Branson School District.
Colorado students can enroll tuition-free at Branson School Online for the upcoming 2008-09 school year, which begins August 25. A series of open houses will be hosted throughout the state where students and parents can meet with teachers and current Branson School Online families to learn more about this education option.
