New Era for Pupils at City Schools

September 3, 2008

Many of the county’s schoolchildren will be returning to different surroundings tomorrow.

It will be the first official day for pupils attending Lincoln’s ‘academy’ schools.

The new academies have come about through the amalgamation of the Priory LSST, the City of Lincoln Community College and the Joseph Ruston Technology College with Moorland Infant and Nursery School and the Usher School.

They make up the Lincoln Federation of Academies and are now known as the Priory Witham Academy, Priory City of Lincoln Academy and the Priory LSST Academy.

Pupils who formerly attended St Giles Infant School will now spend a year at the Myle Cross Junior School site before pupils from both schools move in to the new Chad Varah School – the former St Giles Infant School.

And pupils at the Meadows Primary School in Calder Road which merged last year will move into a new building after spending a year at the infant school site.

Their new home will be the former junior school which has been extended and remodelled.
