Campus News Graduations Dean’s List Honors

Eric Himmelsbach graduated May 18 from the University of Notre Dame, where he was part of the Glynn Family Honors Program and the History Honors Program. He majored in English and honors history, and was named to Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society and Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society.

He also was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester.

A 2004 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, he is the son of Eugene and Jean Himmelsbach of Denver.

Two local students have received associate of science degrees in nursing from Excelsior College, Albany, N.Y. The are Heather Fanus of Manheim and Dolores I. Russo of Cochranville.

Five area students received degrees from Bloomsburg Univeristy in August.

They are Darlene M. Almodovar of Lancaster, master of science in education of deaf and hard of hearing from the College of Graduate Studies; Christin A. Harper of Lancaster, a bachelor of arts in psychology from the College of Liberal Arts; James D. Pfautz of Lititz, a bachelor of science in business administration/management from the College of Business; Brooke E. Sensenig of Denver, a bachelor of social work from the College of Liberal Arts; Steven E. Sweigert of Stevens, a bachelor of science in economics with a minor in business from the College of Liberal Arts; Alyssa A. Madeira of Reinholds, a bachelor of science in speech pathology and audiology from the College of Professional Studies; and Terra E. Bixler- George of Hummelstown, a master of business administration from the College of Graduate Studies.

Ryan Himmelsbach was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Wake Forest University. He is currently a sophomore who will be majoring in biology.

A 2007 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, he is the son of Eugene and Jean Himmelsbach of Denver.

Four local students were awarded Dean’s Academic Scholarships from York College. They are Kaitlyn Kauffman of Columbia, a first- year forensic chemistry major and a graduate of Columbia Junior- Senior High School; Erica Smith of Conestoga, a first-year mechanical engineering major and a graduate of Penn Manor High School; Mason Brandt of Mount Joy, a first-year mechanical engineering major and a graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School; and Christina Poetzl of Pequea, a first-year English literary studies major and a graduate of Penn Manor High School.

The Dean’s Academic Scholarship is a scholarship of one-third tuition per year for all entering first-time, full-time freshmen accepted by Feb. 1 who have graduated in the upper two-fifths of their high school class and have a combined SAT score of 1150 or higher.
