School Poets Line Up Prizes
Schools have been praised for being a hotbed of creative writing talent after their pupils were recognised in a national poetry competition.
The highly commended or winning schools include Churnet View Middle School, Leek, Blackfriars School, Newcastle, St Mary's Primary, Mucklestone, and Oldfields Hall Middle School, Uttoxeter.
The competition was organised by Nasen, which promotes education, training and development for those with special or additional support needs.
Pupils had to write a poem, individually or in groups, on the theme of inclusion. There were more than 300 entries nationally, with 20 poems selected as winners or worthy of commendation.
The schools were attending a celebration event at County Buildings, in Stafford, today.
