Graduations Service Dean’s List Scholarships Alumni Honors Events

Phuong-Thao Hieu Vo, Leola, graduated from the Aspiring Principals Program through the New York City Leadership Academy. She graduated from Dickinson College with a Bachelor of Arts degree; Boston College with a master’s degree in education; and Harvard University with a master’s degree in education and administration. A former AmeriCorps volunteer, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hieu Truong Vo.

Rebecca Hope Wiker, daughter of Joseph and Susan Geesey, Lampeter, graduated from Pennsylvania State University College of Agricultural Sciences with a B.S. degree in science. She majored in animal bioscience.

Ryan M. Hohman received a juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C. He earned a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from University of North Carolina, Wilmington. He graduated from Manheim Township High School and is the son of Robert and Cynthia Hohman, Lancaster.

Jennifer R. Basarab, daughter of Robert and Rosanne Basarab, graduated cum laude from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine degree. She was awarded the Charles Claude Gutherie Award for Excellence in the Basic Medical Sciences during her second year of medical school. After completing requirements for the Western Pennsylvania Health Preceptorship Program, she served as a student coordinator for the program the following year.

She was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society her junior year and served as vice president during her last year of medical school. She successfully completed the requirements prescribed for the Area of Concentration in Neuroscience Certification awarded by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in all subjects and completed the requirements for dual majors in biology and psychology. A graduate of Manheim Township High School, she is continuing her education as an emergency department medical resident physician at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

Erin M. Flynn, of Lititz, graduated magna cum laude from University of Delaware, Newark, with a Bachelor of Music degree in music education with distinction. Named to the dean’s list for eight semesters, she is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Kappa Lambda and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies. She is a graduate of Manheim Township High School and is the daughter of Tim and Linda Flynn.

The following Lancaster students graduated from Ithaca (N.Y.) College:

– Joshua Hassara, son of Andrew and Julie Hassara, a Bachelor of Science degree from the Roy H. Park School of Communications.

– Andrew England, son of Victor and Catherine England, graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Business.

The following local students graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. They are: Sherlynn Catherine Bessick, Columbia, Ph.D., school psychology; Brenden M. Burkholder, B.S., natural science, East Earl; Kimberly S. Martin, B.S., interior design, and Brooke Allishia Schreiber, B.A., journalism, both of Leola; Evan William Wright, B.S., management, Millersville; and Tyler C. Auker, B.S. management; Adelai Virginia Lewis, B.S., interior design; and Sarai Ann Raffensperger, B.A., anthropology, all of Lititz.

Ephrata graduates are Chad Daniel Allen, B.A., criminology; Kristina Marie DeVito, B.A., journalism; Meagan Louise Remlinger, B.S., fashion merchandising; and Kathryn Ella Shortuse, B.S., family and consumer science education.

Lancaster graduates are Candice Jean Dunn, Ph.D., clinical psychology; Donald Circe Fisher, B.A., English; Jessica R. Lehner, B.S., fashion merchandising; Audrey Sue Lilley, B.A., anthropology; and Joshua Bema Ratmoko, B.S., management.

Gina L. Everhart, of Lancaster, was one of six Pennsylvania College of Technology students who traveled to Nicaragua to provide dental care to a group of impoverished children.

During the week-long stay earlier this year, the group provided dental care to children at La Escuelita, a school in the capital, Managua.

Allison C. Harris, Lititz, was named to the dean’s list at West Chester University, where she is majoring in industrial/ occupational psychology. She is the daughter of Julia B. Harris and a graduate of Hempfield High School.

Scott Rowen, Lancaster, was named to the spring dean’s list at Western New England College, Springfield, Mass. He was also named a president’s list designee because of a grade-point average of 3.8 or above. He is the son of Walt and Kate Rowen and is a graduate of Manheim Township High School.

Lancaster students Timothy Lumas, Andrew Simonelli and Jeffrey Simonelli were named to the spring dean’s list at University of New Haven (Conn.).

Conestoga resident Benjamin M. Thompson, a senior in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s aviation maintenance technology program, has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Aircraft Electronics Association.

He recieved the association’s Plane & Pilot Magazine/Garmin Scholarship, available to high school, college or vocational/ technical school students attending (or who plan to attend) an accredited institution in an avionics or aircraft-repair program.

Sharon R. Lopez, of Lancaster, received the Outstanding Service Award from Widener University School of Law.

A 1993 graduate of Widener’s Harrisburg campus, she is a partner at the Lancaster firm of Deem, Farney & Lopez.

The service award is granted for outstanding alumni service to the law school as a whole, to a particular concentration within the school, or to the legal profession.

Adrienne Jayne Cornett, of Mountville, was honored recently for her academic achievements at a convocation ceremony at Hood College, Frederick, Md.

York College of Pennsylvania will hold an information session for its Master of Business Administration Program at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, in Room 102 of the Business Administration Building. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. Seats must be reserved by contacting Brenda Adams at 815- 1749 or badams@ycp.edu.
