Creating a ‘Food Chain’ in Schools
October 5, 2008
Cookery teachers from 24 Derbyshire secondary schools are to give training to primary staff.
The training aims to encourage primary schools to run more practical food lessons with children and to involve their parents.
Marianne Rawson, healthy schools co-ordinator for Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust, said: “We want to give children in Derbyshire the opportunity to learn one of the most useful skills that will be invaluable for the rest of their lives.
“Secondary school food technology teachers have a lot of experience of working with children and food, so this is a great opportunity for this knowledge to be passed on in a fun and practical way.”
