Associations

The Three Village Chamber of Commerce has a new executive director. David Woods, an editor/writer for the online editorial firm www.bookdoctors.biz, was a long-time public relations director for SUNY Stony Brook.

Education

Daniel T. Henry, executive vice president and chief financial officer of American Express, has been named chairman of the board of trustees for Molloy College. Molloy also welcomed three new board members: Dr. Sheila C. D’Nodal, vice president of ambulatory services and chief diversity officer of South Nassau Communities Hospital; John Pohlman, vice president of finance for the Suffolk County division of Catholic Health Services of Long Island; and Lisa Tepper, regional president, Downstate New York/New Jersey region of Travelers.

The Three Village Central School District welcomed a new superintendent of schools, Ralph P. Ferrie. Ferrie comes to Three Village from the Monroe Township Public School District in New Jersey.

The Amityville Public School District announced that Mary Kelly has been named assistant superintendent for technology. Kelly comes from the Kings Park Central School District, where she served as director of assessments, research and instruction.

Also, Kathleen Gulbin is the new assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. She formerly held that title in the Sewanhaka district.

Finally, William Fanning has been named interim assistant superintendent for business. Fanning was formerly assistant superintendent for the Farmingdale schools.

Finance

Meadow Ridge Capital, a Jericho-based private equity firm specializing in the food and packaging industries, announced two new additions to its management team. Paul Bevilacqua, formerly chief financial officer of FoodHandler Inc. and BarrierSafe Solutions International, comes on board as managing partner, while Donna Cherulnik, who was head of human resources at FoodHandler, has been named vice president.

Health Care

Catholic Health Services of Long Island announced the appointment of Cathy Argeroplos as director of admissions for continuing care.

Argeroplos, who will coordinate oversight of admissions for several hospitals, was formerly director of admissions at Medford Multicare Facility.

South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside recently appointed Charles Eisenberg as its director of behavioral health services. Eisenberg comes to South Nassau from Park Avenue Medical Associates, where he was the director of the behavioral health division.

Bradley Gerstman, of counsel to Ruskin Moscou Faltischek in Uniondale, has been named co-chair of the Nassau Autism Coalition by County Executive Tom Suozzi. He joins co-chair Evelyn Ain, publisher of Spectrum Magazine and an autism activist.

Law

Wendy H. Sheinberg has joined Davidow, Davidow, Siegel & Stern in Islandia as a partner focusing on elder law, guardianships and trust and estate planning and administration.

Rivkin Radler in Uniondale announced the addition of three new associates. Wendy Crowther has joined the professional liability practice group. Gina Gleicher is the newest member of the litigation and appeals practice group, while Michael Slevin will work in the insurance and coverage litigation practice group.

Nonprofits

Child Abuse Prevention Services in Roslyn announced that Susan Silverman has been named president of the board. Silverman was previously administrative vice president.

The Huntington Arts Council announced the appointment of Caitlin C. Apostoli as arts-in-education coordinator. This program provides multicultural programs to more than 45,000 students in seven school districts.

Cynthia L. Powers has been named to the board of directors of the National Association of Mothers’ Centers in Jericho. Powers is the director of business development for The Bristal assisted living communities.

Pharmaceuticals

BioSpecifics Technologies Corp., a Lynbrook biopharmaceutical company, announced the appointment of Matthew Geller to its board of directors. Geller has served for more than 15 years as a sell-side analyst and investment banker covering biotechnology companies.
