Known for helping thousands of students pursue careers in a number of varying disciplines within the healthcare arena, American Career College and West Coast University recently celebrated the grand opening of its Inland Empire campus in Ontario. David Pyle, CEO & Founder of American Career College and President & CEO of West Coast University, was joined by special guest Teresa Bello-Jones, appointed by Gov. Schwarzenegger to serve as Executive Officer for the Bureau of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians. Also in attendance were Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod of the 32nd Senate District, which includes the City of Ontario; and Ontario Mayor Paul S. Leon.
"It is remarkable to see my vision for this campus come to fruition with the help of so many respected partners in the community," commented Pyle. "We have built a reputation for dedicated faculty and an employer-driven curriculum, and this new building will only help that grow as students have the opportunity for more hands-on and intimate interaction with their instructors and peers."
More than 150 guests enjoyed an evening reception of hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, live jazz music and tours of the new campus. This multi-million dollar, 64,000 square-foot modern facility, includes classrooms, labs, a student atrium, admissions, a financial aid and career services department all under one roof. With a total capacity of 1,500 students, faculty and staff, the new Ontario campus offers a variety of courses, including Optical Dispensing, Medical Assistant, Massage Therapy, Pharmacy Technician and Health Claims Examiner/Medical Biller. In late November, the school is expecting to start its first Vocational Nursing class at this campus.
West Coast University is the sister school to American Career College, known for being a leader in nursing and health care educational programs in Los Angeles and Orange County. West Coast offers Associate's and Bachelor's Degrees in Health Care Administration, as well as the LVN to RN Associate Degree in Nursing, at the Ontario campus. These programs will be offered at this facility until a separate location is found for its Inland Empire campus.
About American Career College:
With three campuses in Southern California, American Career College has been helping students succeed for over 30 years. Founded in 1978 as American College of Optics, the school became American Career College in 1993, to accommodate an expanding curriculum and growing student population. After graduating, many of its students go on to find good entry-level healthcare positions in their fields. This success has been attributed to the qualified faculty, modern facilities, employer-driven curriculum and employment assistance (American Career College cannot guarantee employment).
