Nationalistic education needed in Nepal: minister
KATHMANDU, July 10 (Xinhua) — The Nepali Education Act will be revised again in order to promote nationalistic education, Nepali minister for Education and Sports said Sunday.
“Curriculum related to nationalism and patriotism is being prepared at the level of school and higher education, as nationalistic education is the need of the hour,” said Radha Krishna Mainali, minister for Education and Sports, at the First District Assembly of the National Guardians’ Association of Nepal.
The guardians have paramount role in implementing the nationalistic education from the lowest level of the education system, Mainali noted.
He also called on all sides not to interpret the concept of nationalistic education with political prejudice.
The Nepali Education Act will be revised also to bring the religious schools into the mainstream and further make the education system systematic, Mainali added.
The Nepali government revised the Education Act on July 5, this year, to hand over public schools to the School Management Committee under the control of civic society.
