Elementary school accidentally shows porn

Posted on: Sunday, 14 June 2009, 17:10 CDT

A hardcore pornographic movie was accidentally screened at PS 17 in Brooklyn, N.Y., school officials said.

Students from five classes at the school had assembled to watch Camp Rock, a Disney Channel movie starring the Jonas Brothers, but after a teacher powered up the DVD player and walked away to get the Disney movie, a skin flick began to play, the New York Post reported Sunday.

The students, some as young as 5-years-old, were exposed to 45-seconds of sex acts in the incident late last month, the newspaper said.

My son told his friend he saw a naked lady at school, said Rona Easton, whose 6-year-old son, Cass, viewed the snippet with his kindergarten class. I thought he was just being silly. It's appalling.

Principal Robert Marchi sent home a letter to parents the day of the incident.

A very explicit pornographic video came on the screen, Marchi wrote. This was extremely upsetting to the students and staff members in attendance. ... I am deeply sorry that this episode took place at PS 17. I know that we will make every effort to find out who was responsible for this despicable act.

@Jared, andy, and Michael: Since when has that provision been enforced? Unless someone was showing DVDs in some second run movie theater, it seems unlikely that this part of the copyright warning is ever used.

this is worse than when they found a kid beating off in the school bathroom during exams

If the DVD was accidentaly left in the player as the article claims, what was it even doing there? If you wanna watch skin flicks at home, be my guest, but at school? That I think is the epitome of poor taste.

The **** wasn't on the Disney DVD, people. It was already in the player. "but after a teacher powered up the DVD player and walked away to get the Disney movie"

How the heck did the **** get on the video, that's what I'd like to know. On another note, I read this and laughed, although some of you might not think it's funny at all because of the little-kid-factor. I just thought it was funny a Disney movie had **** on it and that an elementary school was showing it. But on the oppisite side, it is a little upsetting that they're showing **** at a school. That shouldn't be allowed. So I just want to know how it got on there..

This is outrageous! Why would anyone expose their kids to the jonas brothers?!!?!?!?!?

Actually, in response to Jared's comment, school's CAN show movies. If they pay for a license to, that is.

now that is just disgusting... what kind of horrible school makes kids watch the Jonas brothers?

Andy - you're incorrect. If you read at the beginning of any movie, it states that you are only permitted to view the movie in the comfort of your own home. Any viewing outside of this, is breach of conditions and therefore does require permission. I believe there are exceptions for non-profit organisations, but a school is not one of these. So therefore, you, good sir, are a moron

Err...Zack I would normally agree with you but this is more than just nudity. This is full-on ****.

How does this accidentally happen? It must have been a bootleg copy of Camp Rock or did Disney accidentally add the **** at the beginning of their own DVD?

Why are people so upset about kids seeing nudity, and yet no one seems to care if they see violence?

student registration for PS 17 said to have doubled and students who have long since graduated are re-enrolling.

Jared - you're a moron. Anyone can show a movie anywhere at anytime they want any way they want. You're ridiculous.

Good to know that kids are just sitting around watching Camp Rock at school. Nice use of our tax dollars to just have them sit and be babysat by a disney movie. (also, Disney copyright prevents the showing of their movies to groups like that without prior approval. Somehow, I doubt they got prior approval from Disney to publicly show their movie).
