Family-Friendly Adult Education Is a Reality at Saint Mary's University

Posted on: Wednesday, 13 July 2005, 12:01 CDT

MINNEAPOLIS, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- It's not every day that you see a 3-year-old child visiting a university informational event. But at Saint Mary's University's School of Graduate & Professional Programs, children are invited to join their parents for an upcoming outdoor open house event. The open house will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on July 20 at the Twin Cities campus, 2500 Park Ave. in Minneapolis.

"We want to make higher education as convenient as possible for working adults," said Sarah Lang, director of admission for the School of Graduate and Professional Programs. "Parents shouldn't worry about scheduling a baby- sitter in order to visit our open house," she said. "They can bring the kids, enjoy the free food and friendly atmosphere, and find out all they need to know about returning to school to complete a bachelor's degree or earn an advanced degree."

With 50 degree programs to choose from, the School of Graduate and Professional Programs is one of the largest graduate schools in Minnesota. A welcoming atmosphere is part of the Saint Mary's University tradition of providing accessible, affordable education when and where it is needed.

Highlights of the upcoming open house event from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20 are free gifts for everyone who attends (including special treats for the children), refreshments, a friendly outdoor set-up, campus tours, an opportunity to meet Greg & Cheryl from the KS95 morning show as well as JoJo the Balloon Guy (the fourth fastest balloon artist in the world), games and prizes, and a chance to win a portable sport MP3 player. Please register online at http://www.smupower.org/ and attend to be included in the drawing.
